Spring is Here, The End Is Near, I love you Sweden Dear

Hello Everyone! Happy Spring!!!

With the coming of spring I fear that the end of my exchange is nearing : ( In two weeks I shall be packing up and leaving Jönköping.

However I cannot fret too much because there is many things still left to do in the meantime!

My apologies for not posting as regularly as I should be, but since this is my last semester before I graduate I felt that studies were more important. This made me sad because instead of writing about my adventures, I instead wrote about “why corporate culture is important in international management” (but I suppose I did learn a lot from that assignment).

I have learned a great deal about various topics in university. But since I started university six years ago so much has happened that has changed me and opened my eyes and it wasn’t from a textbook at the uni library.

I started university at 18 with low self esteem, low self confidence, many insecurities about my image, a huge pushover and had been very sheltered my entire life. But now look at me! Age 24 – I have high self esteem, a great confidence in myself, I love who I am and how I look and I do not let anyone push me around. To top it all off I have gained independence and feel I can stand on my own two feet! I didn’t have to prove this to anyone but myself. Because of course I always say when it comes down to your life, it’s you alone who lives it. I didn’t do this for anyone but me, and no one should ever have to prove themselves to anyone. As long as you feel good within yourself, you can be on top of the world and have anything you desire. That’s what I did, and I will continue to do the rest of my life.

I find you cannot learn these things from a book. Sure books can open your mind to what’s out there, but it is not something that can be taught to you. You have to know your fears, own your fears and conquer your fears. All you have to do is try. I was afraid to come to Europe on my own, but taking it step by step has given me an amazing experience. So for the next two weeks I am going to reflect on all of the great things I have done and what I have accomplished and love these last moments.

I may be leaving this place soon, but I have gained so much. Thank you Sweden!
